There was a time when beach volleyball was a statement on Camps Bay beach. When you had to line your a flip flop in the sand to book a game. When finding space to put up a net was a impossible if you didn’t get there early enough. Well those days are back!!

A scorching hot summers day welcomed everyone to the first ever BeachBums King and Queen of the Beach tournament. This was a 2 vs 2 format where each athlete competes as an individual and players are paired with different partners each game. The tournament was great opportunity to play with different people, make new friends, play for fun in a competitive format and ofcourse become King or Queen of the beach.

In the finals of the womens division we had Ira George, Alonnika Ritchey, Anthea Hendricks and Luiza Sondermeier. All four ladies played extremely well which made for an amazing finals. It was a tough battle and could have gone either way but Ira eventually prevailed as the Queen.

The mens division was closely contested until the end. The top 4 players were Toby McLovin, Johnny Meidl, Yann LeGall and Sascha Vigas. At the end Sascha sneak himself past his rivals to clench the prestigious King of the Beach title.

Thank you to all the participants for a great event and a even bigger thank you to Joe&Co for the wonderfull prizes.
